Baker Slips Past Wildcats in Four Sets

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team ended a two-match road trip to the greater Kansas City area Saturday afternoon with a close four-set loss to Baker University at the Collins Center in Baldwin City, Kan.

The Wildcats rallied from a 22-19 deficit in the opening set to take the set 26-24. However, Baker would slip past the Wildcats in the next three sets, winning 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 to keep C-SC winless in league play after four matches.

Ashleigh Brawley was nearly unstoppable in the middle, registering a match-high 15 kills on 32 attempts. She committed one attack error for an attack percentage of .438. Zoe Irvin was also in double figures with 11 kills, while Norah Boggs and Emma Daleen totaled eight terminations each. Lauren Bloom garnered 41 set assists.

Five players recorded double-digits in digs with Kyla Ellis tabulating a match-high 28 digs. Irvin added 17 dig and Dilan Perry had 15 digs. Bloom and Allie Hull tallied 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Brawley was just as strong defensively with five total blocks, including one solo, in the match. Sydney Powell added four blocks with one solo, and Irvin garnered three block assists.

The Wildcats, now 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the Heart, return to action this Tuesday, Sept. 19, against Clarke University at Charles Field House. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
