Wildcats Unable to String Victories Together, Fall to Clarke in Road Finale

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team ended its road scheduled with a 25-21, 15-25, 25-23, 25-17 loss to Clarke University Friday night at Kehl Arena in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats, who conclude the year 1-10 in true road matches and 3-15 in matches away from Charles Field House, are slated to play their final match of the 2023 season Saturday night, Oct. 28, at home against Mount Mercy University. Game time is set for 6 p.m. and C-SC will honor its seniors priorate the match.

Against Clarke, the Wildcats and Pride were tied 18-18 when the hosts scored three straight points and seven of the final 10 points to win the set.

C-SC answered with a big second set to tie the match at a set apiece. Leading 8-7 in the set, the Wildcats tallied the next seven points to go up 15-7 and take control of the set, eventually winning by 10 points.

In the pivotal third set, neither team led by more than two points and the set was knotted at 23 when the Pride were able to win the final two points to claim the set. 

In the final set, the Wildcats led 6-5 at one point, but Clarke reeled off nine straight points to take control and run out the match and the victory.

Zoe Irvin led the Wildcats with a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs. Ashleigh Brawley and Emma Daleen totaled six kills each, and Norah Boggs totaled five terminations.

Defensively, Kyla Ellis joined Irvin in double figures in digs with a team-high 16. Lauren Bloom, who had 20 set assists, added eight digs.
