Three Volleyball Players Named to Academic All-District Team

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), were released in December and recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.  

For the 2023 season, three Culver-Stockton College players garnered Academic All-District® honors. Named to the list were Lauren Bloom (Rochester, Ill. / Rochester HS), Kyla Ellis (O'Fallon, Ill./ O'Fallon HS), and Ashleigh Brawley (Princeville, Ill. / Princeville HS).

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9.
 
A sophomore setter studying marketing, Bloom was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete this season. She finished the 2023 campaign with a team-high 525 set assists, or an average of 5.2 assists per set. She also totaled 19 service aces and 184 digs during the season.
 
Ellis, a junior libero majoring in legal studies, is a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the Wildcats. On the court, Ellis played in all 29 matches and appeared in all 101 sets played by the Wildcats in 2023. She registered 427 digs, an average of 4.2 per set, compiled a serve receive percentage of 94 percent and had 13 service aces. Ellis was named to the All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team as an honorable mention selection.  
 
A junior biological chemistry major, Brawley appeared in 28 of the 29 matches and 97 of the 101 sets played by the Wildcats. She recorded 183 kills, an average of 1.89 kills per set, while posting a team-high 65 blocks this season. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Heart team as an honorable mention pick. Brawley is also a two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the Wildcats.
