Wildcats Dispatch Clarke in Straight Sets

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team improved to 2-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Clarke University Tuesday night in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats (10-5) used a balanced offensive attack to subdue the Pride. Abby Godwin was the only C-SC player to reach double figures in kills with 11. Godwin hit at a .259 clip with just four errors on 27 attempts. 

Zoe Irvin and Victoria Pollard each had eight terminations in the match, while Ashleigh Brawley and Faith Hopgood had five and four kills, respectively. C-SC combined for 40 set assists with Sam Wright registering half of those with 20.

Defensively, Kyla Ellis continued her strong play in the back row with a team-best 15 digs. Pollard was next with nine and Wright had seven. Hopgood and Brawley controlled the front row with three blocks each.

C-SC, which is 3-0 in true road matches this season, continues this road stretch with a match at Grand View University this Friday, Sept. 27, in Des Moines, Iowa. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
