Women's Volleyball Topped by Grand View in Straight Sets

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball opened a two-day Heart of America Athletic Conference road trip with a 25-13, 25-17, 25-18 loss to Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday night.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference with a match at William Penn University looming Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa. First serve against the Statesmen is slated for 2 p.m.

The Wildcats struggled on the attack with an attack percentage of just five percent. C-SC recorded 25 kills but had 21 errors on 83 attempts. By contrast, Grand View hit a 37 percent success rate, garnering 43 kills and just nine errors on 93 attempts.

The Viking front line was also dominant on the night with nine team blocks against the Wildcats. C-SC did not register a block in the match.

Ashleigh Brawley led the C-SC offense with seven kills. Abby Godwin and Zoe Irvin totaled four kills each. Lauren Bloom led the setters with 10 set assists.
