Younce Finishes Third Overall; Wildcats Place Third as a Team at HLGU Invitational

Faith Younce finished third individually at the Trojan Invitational Saturday morning to lead the Culver-Stockton women's cross country team to an overall third place finish in the team competition at Hannibal-LaGrange University.

The Wildcats finished in an overall time of 2:20.20 in the five-kilometer race to finish behind only Judson (Ill.) and Hannibal-LaGrange University. Judson won the event with a time of 1:52:22, while HLGU was second with a time of 2:09:21.

Younce's third place finish is the best individual finish in program history. She completed the course in 21:59.6, which was 48 seconds behind the winning time. Younce narrowly missed out on second place, finishing 1.5 seconds behind Eva Serrato of Judson.

Zoi Smith placed 12th in the event with a time of 25:45.3, while Caroline Lindsey placed 19th overall with a time of 27:43.1. Klaudia Blaszczyk placed 24th overall with a time of 31:24.2, and Teya Hawkins placed 27th overall with a time of 33:28.4.  

The Wildcats return to action in six days when they compete at the Indian Hills Invitational in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Friday, Oct. 13. The women's race is slated to start at 4:45 p.m.
