Runners Post Season, Career Best Times at Indian Hills Invitational
The Culver-Stockton College women's cross country team placed sixth in the Indian Hills Community College Invitational at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa, Iowa, Friday night.
After a 75-minute weather delay, junior Faith Younce turned in her best time of the season at the 5-kilometer distance, finishing in a time of 20:47.2. That mark is the fourth-best tie at that distance in program history.
The other six Wildcat runners also registered career-best times at the eight-kilometer distance despite the soggy and wet conditions. Zoi Smith completed the circuit in a time of 24:01.1 while Morgan Keith, making her collegiate debut, finished with a time of 25:10.8.
Caroline Lindsey was a few seconds behind Keith, ending in a time of 25:49.9, while Teya Hawkins and Klaudia Blaszczyk recorded times of 27:56.1 and 28:13.9, respectively.
The Wildcats are slated to compete in the Health Sciences and Pharmacy – St. Louis Cross Country Classic next Saturday, Oct. 21 in St. Louis, Mo. The women's race is slated to start at 9:45 a.m. at Willmore Park.
