Delaney Straus Named Heart Runner of the Week after Winning in her Collegiate Debut

Culver-Stockton College junior Delaney Straus has earned the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award for her performance last week at the Great River Open in Canton, Mo.

Straus, making her collegiate cross country debut, captured the women's four-kilometer event in a program record time of 14:44, smashing the previous mark of 18:30 set by Spencer Randolph in 2012.

Straus is the first Wildcat runner to win a cross country event since the program was re-instated in 2008. She is also the second Wildcat cross country runner, and first female runner, to earn the conference's weekly honor, joining Logan Lucas who earned the award on Sept. 11, 2023.

The Wildcats are back in action this week when they participate in the Dutch XC Invitational at Central College in Pella, Iowa. The women's race is slated to begin at 6:45 p.m.
